1. What is live wedding painting?

Live wedding painting is a unique way to capture your wedding day as a piece of art. I attend your wedding and begin your painting live, capturing your chosen moment and the atmosphere of the day. After the wedding, I continue refining your artwork in my studio before it is ready to come home to you.

2. What moment can we choose for our painting?

Accepted Answer

It’s completely up to you! Popular choices include your first kiss, walking back down the aisle, first dance, or a beautiful portrait together at your venue. Before your wedding, we’ll discuss what you envision so I can plan the composition with you.

3. Do you finish the painting on the wedding night?

Accepted Answer

Not completely. I paint live for up to approximately 7 hours, creating as much of your artwork as possible during your celebration. I then take it back to my studio for further layers, details and refinement. This allows me to create a finished piece that you’ll be proud to display in your home for years to come.

4. How long does the finished painting take?

Accepted Answer

My standard completion timeframe is approximately 16-18 weeks after your wedding. Oil paintings require multiple layers and drying time, so I never rush the process. You’ll be contacted once your painting is ready for its final approval, varnishing and delivery.

5. Do you take your own reference photos?

Accepted Answer

Yes! I usually take my own reference photos so I have exactly what I need for the painting. Depending on the moment you choose, I may ask for just a minute or two with you after the ceremony for a quick reference photo. I can also work alongside your photographer and use their images where appropriate.

6. Can you add people or details that weren’t in the original moment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. One of the beautiful things about a painting is that we aren’t limited to exactly what appeared in a single photograph. Certain people, meaningful details or elements can sometimes be incorporated into the artwork. Additional people or significant changes may incur an extra fee, depending on what you would like included.

7. Do you travel outside of Perth?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! I travel throughout Western Australia and can also travel interstate for weddings. Travel within the first 50 km one way is included, with additional travel fees applying beyond this distance. Interstate weddings are quoted individually based on the location and travel requirements.

8. How do we secure our wedding date?

Accepted Answer

Your wedding date is officially secured once your 30% non-refundable retainer has been received and your agreement has been completed. Unfortunately, I’m unable to hold dates without a retainer, as I accept only one live wedding painting booking per date.

9. Can we choose the size and style of our painting?

Accepted Answer

Yes! I offer different canvas sizes and packages depending on how much detail and presence you would like your painting to have. My work has a recognisable romantic, painterly style, and we’ll discuss your chosen scene, composition and important details before your wedding.

10. Can we have our painting framed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Floating frames can be arranged as an optional addition to your finished artwork. I can show you the available frame options and organise framing before your painting is delivered, so it arrives ready to display in your home.
